HI I’m Terry.… Aka NuTz4BiKeZ.

I live in a small rural town (pop approx 850) in New Zealand’s South Island.
My nearest bike shop is over 30 miles away so I tend to buy most of my parts etc online.

I have been building bikes for a while and built my first recumbent by trial and error (and there was plenty of those) from a design I found online.

I currently own and ride a road bike, mountain bike, upright tandem (homebuilt) a Short wheel base recumbent loosely styled on a P38 and a Long wheel base recumbent built from a design found on Recycled Recumbents.

I remember the first time I ever saw a recumbent, they are pretty scarce in rural New Zealand, I thought “dork… why don’t you get a proper bike” Kinda funny how things work out.

It was about six months later I started building the first of the 7 or so recumbents I have built so far.

SOME OTHR THOUGHTS!

I am not really in the bearded, sandal wearing, save the whales, hug trees and protect the planet group but I do believe that there should be a more responsible approach taken regarding Man’s effects on our planet. Recent world events have caused the price of fuel to go through the roof (they say world events I believe it’s greed but that’s another story) and I think it is as good a time as any to examine feul usage at the personal level.

I am adopting a more “take the bike – leave the car” attitude which will not only save fuel and reduce pollution but it will also save money. I have for a while now had an interest in cycle touring. Over my life I have only ever done a couple of multi day tours and a few day rides. Touring is one facet of cycling I intend to be involved with and have an expectation that it will become a highlight of my life.
